Warszawa - Łódź ERTMS contract awarded

 

 

POLAND: Infrastructure manager PKP PLK has awarded a Thales-led consortium a €100m contract to install GSM-R and ETCS Level 2 on the Warszawa Zachodnia - Koluszki - Łódź Widzew route.

 

The contract covers around 125 route-km and includes the design and construction of a control centre in Skierniewice. The project will enable maximum speeds on the route to be increased to 160 km/h for passenger trains and 120 km/h for freight trains.

 

Announcing the contract on March 12, Thales said that this was its fourth ETCS order in Poland, where it has now deployed ETCS on 700 km of the network and GSM-R on 500 km.
